ToggleDetailed Summary
Life After Endgame
The story picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, as the world adapts to the return of those who were snapped away. Peter Parker (Tom Holland) grapples with Tony Stark’s loss and the increasing responsibilities of being Spider-Man. When his class embarks on a European trip, Peter sees it as a chance to step back from hero duties and finally share his feelings with MJ (Zendaya).
The Elemental Attacks
During the trip, mysterious creatures known as Elementals begin attacking different cities. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) recruits Peter to help stop them, introducing him to Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal), also known as Mysterio. Beck claims to be from an alternate Earth, here to stop the Elementals that destroyed his world.
The Rise of Mysterio
As Peter grows close to Beck, he sees him as a mentor and even hands over Tony Stark’s tech-filled glasses, EDITH, to Beck. However, it’s soon revealed that Mysterio is a fraud. He’s a former Stark Industries employee with a team of disgruntled colleagues using advanced drone technology and illusions to manipulate everyone.
Peter’s Realization and the Final Battle
Peter uncovers Mysterio’s deceit, sparking a high-stakes battle in London. Mysterio unleashes his illusions and drones to wreak havoc, but Peter ultimately sees through the ruse and defeats him. However, before the fight ends, Mysterio manages to record a video exposing Spider-Man’s true identity.
The Shocking Mid-Credits Scene
In the mid-credits scene, Mysterio’s video is broadcasted by J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons), revealing Peter Parker as Spider-Man to the world. This sets up major implications for future films.
Movie Ending
The movie ends with Peter and MJ finally becoming a couple. However, the joy is short-lived as Mysterio’s video not only outs Peter as Spider-Man but also frames him for the Elemental attacks. The final shot is Peter in disbelief as the world now knows his secret.
